Monument Health

Primary Care Providers (PCPs) guide you on your wellness journey, identify risk factors and coordinate with specialists when illnesses or injuries arise. Primary Care Providers specialize in internal medicine or family medicine. Internal medicine focuses on preventing and treating adult diseases, while family medicine focuses on caring for individuals of all ages.

Our goal is to be your first point of contact and deliver the care that’s right for you. Primary care services offered: prenatal, newborn, pediatric and adolescent care, chronic and acute care, aging patients and transitional care.

Monument Health’s Family Medicine providers establish and maintain a baseline of well-being for you and your family and care for them throughout the entire life cycle — from childhood through the senior years. Family medicine covers all areas of general health care, including pediatric and adolescent health, women’s health and gynecology, men’s health, aging issues and office-based surgery. Your family physician knows your history, your family and your health needs better than anyone else, and they can refer you to a specialist if necessary.
Monument Health has ten locations in the Black Hills region where Primary and Family Medicine care is available.
“The most important value between you, the patient and your family care practitioner is trust,” said Brad Archer, M.D., Monument Health Chief Medical Officer. “We always approach interactions with our primary care patients as if they are going to be under our care for their whole lives. That way, a relationship of trust can develop over time, but is there right from the start. To us, you are not just another face or a number, you are an individual worthy of undivided attention and personal care. It’s very important to us to show that we care.”
Another highlight of Primary Care is Rapid City Hospital Family Medicine Residency Clinic (FMR), which is a group of physicians who specialize in family medicine and provide comprehensive care for the entire family in all phases of life. With an in-house laboratory, imaging services, same-day appointments and outpatient counseling services, FMR is a one-stop shop for all of your health care needs. Physicians also provide continuity of care, seeing their patients in the hospital setting, should you ever be admitted.
