Many people struggle to lose weight and keep it off. If your weight is starting to affect your health and your way of life, and you’ve tried other weight loss methods without success, it may be time to consider weight-loss or bariatric surgery.
The Monument Health Weight Management team understands that losing weight is difficult. With an experienced team of medical, surgical, neuropsychological and nutrition professionals, this group is here to help you achieve your goals with education and guidance every step of the way.
“We’re really proud of our new clinic in Rapid City which is a truly multidisciplinary clinic with not only surgery, but also dedicated registered dieticians, an obesity medicine physician, an obesity psychiatrist, and integration into our Orthopedic facility with physical therapy and dedicated trainers,” David Fromm, M.D., General Surgeon at Monument Health in Rapid City, said. “We take our patients through the entire journey. Bariatric surgery really becomes a life-changing event.”
The Monument Health Weight Management team works with you individually to develop a program specifically tailored for you — with lifestyle changes as well as medical and surgical options.
“It’s a process beforehand where the team evaluates numerous factors,” said Andrew VanOsdol, M.D., General Surgeon at Monument Health in Spearfish. “We’ll identify problems with things like acid reflux or hernias, look for anything that needs to be taken care of before the surgery or to determine what kind of surgery, if any, is best in each case. Patients see a dietician and talk about medication before surgery.”
