Tim Johnson, the owner of Rushmore Destinations, has recently transformed one of his beloved Rapid City properties, the Howard Johnson, into one of the most exciting hotels in the region. Now called Elevation Inn & Suites, this hotel has undergone a significant rebranding, transitioning into an independent, soft-branded property under the Wyndham “Trademark Collection.”
“This is about creating lasting memories for families visiting South Dakota,” Tim said, explaining the decision to rebrand. The name “Elevation” reflects both the hotel’s physical location — nestled in a hillside near downtown Rapid City — and its commitment to elevate the guest experience.
The changes at Elevation Inn & Suites extend beyond just a fresh name. The hotel boasts modern upgrades like luxury bedding, all new furniture, Samsung-powered smart TVs and cutting-edge tech features. “We’re aiming to stay ahead of the curve by integrating A.I. and offering a more personalized experience,” Tim explained.
