“People deserve to be free of pain and enjoy positive dental experiences. There is no population more deserving of this than children,” says Dr. Paul Stevens. He’s a board-certified pediatric dentist. He and the rest of the team at Dakota Dental 4 Kids have no doubt that they’re making a difference in the community.
DD4K serves a specialized and underserved group — kids. “The dental needs of kids are very different from the needs of adults,” explains Dr. Stevens. “Sure, kids experience decay, plaque build up and other dental conditions just like adults, but when it comes to treating a child for those things, that’s all we do. Our staff is very adept at helping children regardless if they’re scared of the dentist or not.”
Dr. Stevens says that for dental clinics that aren’t focused on pediatric dentistry, getting something like an x-ray of a child’s mouth may prove a struggle or impossible. But not so at DD4K. “Our team has the capacity to treat children at a very high level,” he says. Dr. Stevens says that trust is paramount when it comes to treating kids. That might mean taking time with a child’s treatment or not pushing them into a situation they’re not comfortable with. “Our staff is motivated by helping these kids. And they’re fabulous with them,” Dr. Stevens shares.
“Most of our clients are on Medicaid — which a lot of dental practices won’t see,” Dr. Stevens says. “We work hard to provide an outstanding child-focused patient experience. Our staff puts in so much effort to make children and parents happy; it truly is a labor of love.”
