Pastor Sonny and Missy Rosbrugh’s journey into ministry is a testament to the often surprising places God can take us. What began as a series of reluctant steps has grown into a powerful story of transformation and faith.
“I didn’t feel equipped when God called us,” Sonny admitted. “But when God calls you, He equips you, too.” After becoming more and more involved in their church in Missouri, one of Sonny’s mentors and friends asked him to take a leap: move his family to Rapid City to minister full time.
The Rosbrughs were hesitant, but a life-changing mission trip to Africa offered clarity. There, Sonny and Missy felt God leading them to serve in ways they never could have imagined. This pivotal moment set the stage for Sonny’s eventual role as a youth pastor and, today, as the lead pastor of Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Rapid City.
Sonny and his family have embraced the call, trusting that God will guide them every step of the way. “There’s never been a dull moment in it,” Sonny reflected. “But through every blessing and challenge, we see God’s hand in it all.”
Missy shared a powerful message for the Back Hills community: “There’s a place for you here. A place where you can be loved, not judged; a place to find hope in a Savior.”
The Rosbrughs have intentionally worked to create a welcoming environment for everyone at Crossroads — regardless of age, stage in life or even experience with God. As Sonny emphasized, “You don’t have to straighten yourself out before coming to Jesus. We all get to walk this journey together.”
For the Rosbrughs, faith is a journey of obedience, community and a deep trust in God. Their message is simple yet profound: there is always a place to belong, and God will equip you as you walk alongside Him.
