Coeur Wharf

The heart of Coeur Wharf is its people and the communities surrounding the mine — towns where families live, grow and shape the future. That perspective guides every decision at Wharf, where employees are encouraged to give back in meaningful ways.
Stephen Arant, Metallurgist at the Wharf mine, exemplifies living out this philosophy. “If we don’t take care of the people we live with and interact with — there’s no point in doing what we do,” he said. He and others on the Wharf team support organizations like the Boys and Girls Club of Lead and participate in events like Neutrino Days.
“We want to make sure we are giving back to the families and groups doing good work,” said Shelly Rose, HR and Community Relations Manager. With over $200,000 in local community giving 2024, it’s easy to see that giving back isn’t an afterthought — it’s at the core of everything this organization does.
Jasmine McCauley, Environmental Manager, emphasized the pride employees feel in these efforts. “These people are friends and neighbors. We want to see them succeed and help any way we can,” she said. Other organizations that Coeur Wharf actively supports include Junior Achievement, Wellfully, Northern Hills Alliance for Children, Handley Center, South Dakota Early Education and more.
Ken Nelson, Regional General Manager and advisory committee member of the Coeur Wharf Sustainable Prosperity Fund, highlighted the company’s long-term commitment to Lead. “Most businesses only contribute while they’re operating,” he said. “This million-dollar endowment is designed to invest in the community for the long term. It will continue growing and giving back for decades, long after we’re gone.”
For Couer Wharf employees, the lasting focus is on the community itself. This people-first philosophy ensures that while gold may be extracted, community bonds are strengthened for generations to come.
