Monument Health

Monument Health Gastroenterology provides the highest level of care for a full range of digestive system diseases including general gastroenterology, hepatology and interventional gastroenterology with hepato-pancreatic-biliary interventions. The GI team at Monument Health serves patients from their state-of-the-art Endoscopy Suite, completed in 2024, at Rapid City Hospital.
The number of digestive disease conditions leading to primary care physician visits and specialty referrals is progressively on the rise, and Monument Health’s GI clinic works to fill this need in the community. Developing inpatient and outpatient services has included the use of cutting edge technology such as endoscopic ultrasound, which allows for treating patients in new ways.
This means patients who used to be referred for major surgeries, often with a high rate of complications, can now be taken as an out-patient procedure where the patient is often sent home the same day. This not only improves outcomes, it means that GI can serve, diagnose and treat more patients on balance and with a safer, less invasive approach.
“We are the only Advanced GI Team in western South Dakota, so it is our responsibility and pleasure to focus on excellence as our primary value,” said Bradley Anderson, M.D., FACS, Director of Gastroenterology. “Our entire team puts their knowledge and skills to work for the best outcomes for our patients to truly make an impact on our communities.”
GI diseases can often be frustrating to identify and difficult to treat. Dr. Anderson and the GI team consists of specialists, Advanced Practice Providers and a nursing staff who work tirelessly to deliver the best possible support and care in the region.
