When you’re unsure whether your condition warrants a visit to the emergency room, an urgent care, or if self-care at home would be sufficient, Monument Health Nurse Triage Line is here to help. Patients who call with questions can speak directly with a trained Registered Nurse to help them understand the urgency of their case and help them get the most appropriate type of care.

The Nurse Triage Line is a vital health care resource providing convenient access to professional medical advice and support. By calling the Nurse Triage Line, you can speak with a highly trained nurse who will assess your symptoms, provide guidance and help you determine the appropriate level of care based on your specific needs.

“The line’s success has demonstrated that people like the ability to call a Registered Nurse and discuss their health concerns when they aren’t sure where to start,” said Lisa Gibbon, MSN, RN, Monument Health System Director for the Nurse Triage Call Center. “We are proud to be able to offer this service to our community and connect patients to the right care at the right time.”

The Nurse Triage Line can be reached by calling (605) 755-1350. The call is free, and you do not need to have an existing relationship with a Monument Health provider. Nurses are available weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. However, anyone experiencing chest pains, stroke symptoms or serious injury should call 911 and get medical help immediately.

“I’ve lived here my whole life, and I have loved seeing how people are always willing to help each other,” Sheila Long, RN, Shift Lead Nurse Triage said. Sheila is one of the Registered Nurses dedicated to staffing the call center. “I love caring for our patients. I love seeing how much they care for each other. They’re also always very thankful when they receive help. It is very gratifying to be able to make a difference for people and get them going in the right direction with their health care needs.”
