Lori Eggersgluess always knew she wanted to be a hairstylist. When this Sturgis native was barely a teenager, she purchased a book about cutting hair, and, at just 14, Lori got her first client — her little sister.
Lori pursued her calling, and after styling hair professionally for a few years, she felt like it was time to take her passion to the next level. “I was having lunch with my dad, and we were talking about how I was ready for a change,” Lori says. “My dad then said to me, ‘I have a little extra money in my pocket; how about you open your own salon?’”
Following that encouragement, Lori recruited her friend, Vicki, and they started to design a special salon. The result of that planning was Mystique Edge, a place where anyone is welcomed to find a place to escape.
Lori’s salon started with five people, but the team didn’t stay that size for long. With the help of Melanie Ogle, the team grew and a spa was added to the salon. Today, the Mystique Edge team has around 35 people. “We pride ourselves on having a culture where everyone on the team really looks out for each other,” Lori says.
Through a lot of love and support, Lori has grown and thrived for 23 years. “Every day I am thankful to my family and friends for helping build this dream,” Lori shares. “My dad, Tony, and my mom, Geri — I miss her every day — have always been my biggest supporters and encouragers.”
